Misa Malawi challenges political parties on safe environment to media

Misa Malawi has called on all political parties to create a safe and secure environment for the media in order to have fair and credible 2025 elections

In a press release Misa says creating an atmosphere of animosity for journalists covering events and activities in the run up to elections is criminal and disservice to the nation

Chairperson of Misa Malawi Golden Matonga has condemned threats on journalists by some suspected supporters of Democratic Progressive Party during its convention at COMESA Hall in Blantyre

Matonga says intimidation of journalists and forced deletion of stories are happening at a time Malawians are eager to know what is happening in respective political parties for them to make informed choices during the 2025 elections.

He says in the wee hours of Monday 19th August some people operating under the banner DPP media team threatened and forced NPL team to delete a fakebook news update on what was happening at the convention

According to him the team had to seek special protection from some party officials to safely move themselves and their live streaming gadgets out of the convention Hall

Misa Malawi has called on DPP to publicly reprimand those political fanatics who have spoiled what would largely be considered a cordial working relationship between the party top leadership and media during the convention.
