Malawi’s first lady describes Muslim women as valuable asset for development
Malawi’s first lady Monica Chakwera says Muslim women are valuable asset for country’s development.
Chakwera said this when she opened a three days women dawah at Maganga primary school in Salima organized by QMAM women under the theme “the role of Muslim women in development.”
She said such gatherings are very important for women as they are able to articulate various issues that affect their life and acquire business skills for them to be independent as well as support their families
The first lady has assured the Muslim women of government support hence asking them to form groups in their respective communities for easy access of funds to start small businesses
“Early marriages are not a solution to poverty alleviation for the family but parents have a leading role to educate a girl child regardless of low income,” Chakwera
Speaking at the same function minister of water and sanitation Abida Mia advised the Muslim women to utilize the platform by sharing entrepreneurship skills and find solutions to some problems that affect their lives and deen
In her speech QMAM national secretary Khadija Tambala said they organized the dawa to remind Muslim women their roles in Islamic development
Tambala said women need to support men in taking care of their families as cost of living nowadays is very high
Muslim women from different districts are participating in the dawah which will end on Sunday 14th August.
