Malawi has recorded first cholera case in the 2020 to 2021 season
According to Ministry of health the three year old child was admitted at Chileka isolation centre on 3rd January and has been discharged on 6th January
Public relations officer of Blantyre district health office Chrissy Banda says they are monitoring the situation
“Our wish was not to register a case as last year we recorded 3 cases,” Banda
Commenting health rights activist says this is a clear indication that the country is failing to ensure all citizens have access to clean and portable water.
In an interview, Malawi Health Equity Network MEHN executive director George Jobe said” although Malawians are already into covid-19 prevention there is need to do more to curb cholera and typhoid diseases as the measures go beyond washing of hands.”
