Truck drivers, government and transporters have agreed to end the national wide strike.
The agreement has been made after hours of discussions on the strike which began on Monday.
According to Minister of Transport and public works Ralph Jooma “the discussion focused on minimum salaries.”
It is reported that the minimum wage for the drivers of fuel tankers is 140, 000 kwacha while those ferrying dry cargo is 60, 000 kwacha.
Meanwhile, one of the fuel traders in the country Total Malawi Limited has appealed to its customers to use their fuel sparingly as there are fears of shortage of fuel.
According to a statement which has been signed by the company’s general trade manager, Luwani Nyasulu the ongoing strike has affected their logistics to receive and supply fuel products.
However, Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority has said there is no cause for alarm
