NGO-GCN looking forward to the DPP’s promises

NGO-Gender Coordination Network (NGO-GCN) says it is looking forward to the implementation of the promises which the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) made in its 2014 Manifesto in relation to gender and participation of women in national development.

The Network has made the call in its press statement made available to Radio Islam.

The statement co-signed by the NGO-GCN Chairperson, Emma Kaliya, and the Network’s Coordinator, Victor Maulidi, says that DPP pledged to walk the talk and turn its development promises into real benefits for the people.

It further says among others DPP promised to ensure gender balance and equality of opportunity on matters of recruitment, training and promotions.

Kaliya says NGO-GCN hopes that all efforts will be made to have as many women representatives in the legislature as possible, in line with the 50-50 representation.

NGO-Gender Coordination Network (NGO-GCN) is a grouping of gender and human rights NGOs who are active in promoting gender equality and equity including equal participation of women in political and public decision making positions.
