Africa Islamic civilization exhibition has officially closed its Blantyre office with a call from Muslim Association of Malawi to extend the Islamic exhibition initiative nationwide.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, Deputy Secretary General for the Muslim Association of Malawi, Alhaj Maulana Ahmed Monjeza, commended the organization for its role in promoting Islamic knowledge among Malawians.
Monjeza said the exhibition has helped some to embrace Islam therefore encouraging those that patronized the exhibition to put into practice the Islamic knowledge gained.
“My message is very short but powerful, my plea is that whatever has been gained through the exhibition especially by those that have reverted to Islam is that the should make sure they put into practice what they have gained, because there is no point to acquire the knowledge and then stay with it at home without practicing it or quitting so am urging them to be active and continue seeking more knowledge”, he explained.
Responding to MAM’s call, National Coordinator for the Islamic Information Bureau and member of the exhibition committee, Abdul Hamid Chibwe, said as the exhibition relocates to Mangochi, efforts will also be made to expand its activities to other districts.
“We are pleased to announce that the initiative will now be transferred to the Mangochi Islamic Information Bureau, where it is expected to continue its mission of promoting Islamic awareness and community learning in a new setting” said Chibwe.
He said, the initiative has been a strong platform for Islamic education, outreach, and community engagement, welcoming visitors from different backgrounds and contributing to greater understanding of Islam, supporting new Muslims, and strengthening educational activities.
Chibwe therefore applauded the organisation as well as all that have been patronizing the exhibition expressing hope that the knowledge gained will continue guiding them towards the practice and promotion of Islam across the country.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all scholars, partners, volunteers, and visitors who supported the exhibition throughout its journey in Blantyre. May Allah reward everyone abundantly for their efforts” he added.
One of the participants who reverted to Islam through the exhibition, Enock Mwiva, said the initiative has helped him gain more Islamic knowledge.
“I have learnt a lot because I now know how to pray, previously I did not know how to give charity but Islam has helped me understand the importance of giving, for example during the month of Ramadhan,Islam encourages us to give more to others” he said.
Mwiva therefore advised muslims in the country to continue seeking knowledge so that they should add up to what they already know.
The Africa Islamic Civilization Exhibition project has been successfully running at Pamodzi Park in Blantyre since August 2023 with an aim of promoting awareness and understanding of Islam.
