United Democratic Front UDF says the resignation of its campaign director Ester Jolobala will greatly affect the party’s preparations for the 17th March by-elections.
Ester Jolobala announced her resignation from the position of campaign director saying she wants to give chance to others to take the position.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Islam, UDF deputy publicity secretary Labana Chilungo, has confirmed the development.
When asked why a number of its senior members are pulling out of the party and their positions, Chilungo says they are yet to find the reasons adding they will go back to its drawing board and map the way forward.
Reacting, political analyst, Ernest Thindwa says it is not surprising adding UDF has lost direction.
“UDF is no longer an attractive party, for most politicians. UDF was at one point in time the most loved party because it used to usher in so many members of parliaments so it was very attractive but now only a few members of parliament imagine, UDF ushering into parliament as low as ten people, and this is happening when number of seats in parliament has been increased so the party is no longer attractive”, Thindwa said.
According to Thindwa, says most people who want to grow in politics cannot stay in UDF,
Thindwa said UDF should expect more people exiting the party unless the leadership takes bolder step.
