Government has expressed serious concern with public statements attributed to some government officials insinuating that priority in the distribution of relief items and access to the Farm Inputs Subsidy Program FISP should be given to those who voted for the current administration.
In a statement, Chief Secretary to the Government Justin Saidi says Mutharika’s administration is clear that every Malawian is entitled to fair and equal access to relief assistance and all government development and social support programs regardless of their political affiliation and how they voted in 2025 general elections.
Saidi therefore has advised public officers to strictly observe and implement president’s one Malawi Vision to administer all government programs for national interest.
Commenting, political scientist Dr Sherif Kaisi has applauded president Mutharika for the statement saying it portrays sense of maturity on the country’s multiparty democracy.
Dr Kaisi said the government must serve all its citizens regardless of their affiliation bearing in mind that in a democratic nation not all people can vote for the president.
“If you look at the population in the country, we are approximately to 20 million residents in this country and in fact not all people voted for the DPP in fact even those who registered the 6 million people, for the elections not all voted for the party, and in fact the government is there to serve everyone without discrimination.
He then said party name or party color does not go into government services hence asked the president to continue serving the public.
