Department of climate change and meteorological services DCCMS has advised farmers that have already planted their crops to conserve the limited available soil moisture as some areas are likely to experience more than seven consecutive dry period
In their 10 day weather bulletin, the department has advised farmers who have not yet planted to continue monitoring both the amount of rainfall before making planting decisions to avoid poor germination and seed loss.
Speaking with radio Islam, director of DCCMS Lucy Mtilatila has highlighted that the dry days are more pronounced in northern part of the country and some parts of central Malawi.
