First Lady for collective action on TB eradication
First Lady has called for collective action to eradicate Tuberculosis (TB) by 2030.
Speaking at the High-Level Multi-Sectoral Engagement on Ending TB Madam Monica Chakwera mentioned the critical role of women in the fight against the disease.
She has credited Leprosy and Tuberculosis Programme for its contributions after noting remarkable progress made in the fight against TB.
The First lady underscored the importance of adopting innovative and advanced diagnostic tools to enhance early detection and treatment.
In his remarks Deputy Minister of Health, Noah Chimpeni, said government is committed to strengthen health system in response to diseases across the country.
From 2015 to date, Malawi has reported that TB prevention efforts currently show a 50% success rate among HIV-positive individuals and 60% among HIV-negative individuals.
In her remarks Executive Director of Coalition of Women Living with HIV in Malawi, Edina Tembo said the organisation will ensure more people have access to TB diagnosis and treatment services.
