Lilongwe City Council to remove vendors from undesignated places from 2 May

Lilongwe City Council LCC will remove vendors doing businesses in undesignated places from 2nd May

Chief executive officer for the council Dr Macloud Kadammanja says by-laws of 2018 prohibits any person from engaging in illegal street vending

Kadammanja also says display of goods outside shops or premises of business community is prohibited by the by-law therefore they will be confiscated

He further says the operation will target all areas in the city hence urging vendors doing their businesses in the streets to return to established markets

The LCC Chief executive officer warns that vendors risk losing illegal spaces as the council will re-allocate them to law abiding vendors once they fail to return to those spaces

The council then appeals to pedestrians, motorists and the public to desist from purchasing goods from undesignated trading places

Kadammanja pleads with Malawians to cooperate with officers and law enforcement team when they will be carrying out their exercise.
