Malawi Law Society obtains injunction against interdiction of Anti-Corruption Bureau Director

Malawi Law Society (MLS) has obtained court injunction against arrest and and interdiction of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Martha Chizuma.

Last week, Secretary to President and Cabinet, Colleen Zamba, interdicted Chizuma as she is facing criminal charges over her leaked audio.

However, MLS applied for permission to judicial review on the interdiction and prosecution of Chizuma.

The High Court therefore has granted a stay order restraining the respondents effecting their decisions pending judicial review.

The court order means Chizuma is free to immediately start executing her duties as ACB Director General.

Chizuma was expected to take plea on January 27 but the case was shifted to February 8.
