Four arrested over cheating in PSLCE
Police in Lilongwe have arrested Mtsindo primary school head teacher Patisayo Kathumba 48 including two teachers; Auleriano Kathyola, 57 and Yoasi Kawaza 28 and a supervisor Aaron Kalindang’ombe 45 on suspicion that they cheated during this year’s primary school Leaving Certificate of Education examinations at Mtsindo examination centre in Lilongwe Rural West.
According to Lilongwe police publicist Hastings Chigalu, during marking of the examinations in October in Zomba, markers traced an anomaly on examination papers belonging to 17 candidates.
Chigalu said there was an inconsistency in handwriting of the candidates in different examination papers.
“After officials of Malawi National Examinations Board MANEB realised the malpractice they reported to us and out investigation found that the cheating happened,” Chigalu
He said the suspects will appear in court on Friday 10th December, 2021 where they will be charged
