ESCOM to connect 80% of applicants by June-Minister
In an effort to clear excessive electricity connectivity problem Minister of energy has said the ministry is engaging authorities at ESCOM to connect at least 80 percent of applicants by June this year
Newton Kambala told parliament that ESCOM has been failing to satisfy electricity connection applicants because of financial constraints due to political interference
Kambala said the corporation will put on express list the applicants who will pay full connection costs
He then asked Malawians to protect ESCOM materials for it to speed up the connection process
On the free connection promise made by Tonse alliance during campaign Kambala said “we need to make a policy first for that to be effective.”
