Zomba MAM chair tours Zainab girls’ Islamic centre
Muslim Association of Malawi has said is committed to work with organizations and individuals that promote girl education.
This was said by Zomba district chairperson Sheikh Dan Konda when he visited Zainab girls’ Islamic centre in Domasi to appreciate how the institution is fostering Islamic knowledge.
Sheikh Konda said was delighted to note that there are individuals who have passion to strengthen Islam through education.
“I thank director of Zainab girls’ Islamic centre Sheikh Muhammad Gayesi for putting his interest on girls,” said Sheikh Konda.
Sheikh Konda said educated girls are very crucial in strengthening Islam and its propagation.
On his part sheikh Gayesi described Zomba MAM Chair’s tour at his institution as encouraging.
“I thought of putting interest on girls after looking at the gap that is there between boys and girls who are conversant with Islamic principles,” said Sheikh Gayesi.
He said the future of Islam lies in women who are islamically educated hence need to invest in girls.
However, Sheikh Gayesi cited untimely payment of fees by some parents as the greatest challenge in smooth running of the school.
Zainab girls’ Islamic centre opened its doors in 2015 with focus on primary school girls and soon will also be offering secondary studies.
