Zomba magistrate surrenders to High court Chanthunya’s murder case

Zomba senior resident magistrate Viva Nyimba has referred to High Court the murder case which fugitive Masonzi Chanthunya has started answering.

Chanthunya allegedly killed his girl friend Linda Gasa in 2010.

He appeared in the court which was full of security officers without a lawyer.

“I refer this case to high court because it is big for this court,” said Nyimba.

Chanthunya was brought back to Malawi from South Africa last week where he was hiding.

The body of Gasa who was a Zimbabwean was buried in Chanthunya’s hotel in Mangochi.

Malawi used the Interpol to arrest Chanthunya.
