Vice President Dr Jane Ansah has distributed relief items to 224 families affected by disaster due to rains and strong winds at Mnekasya Village, Sub Traditional Authority Moto in Mangochi.
During the visit Ansah who is also responsible for disaster management affairs has assured the victims of government’s commitment to providing assistance to them
She has warned residents in flood-prone areas to evacuate immediately to avoid further risks
2,421 households have been affected across the country since the rains started this season.
Commenting after receiving the relief items one of the beneficiaries George Maganga thanked government for assisting them with food and other items
Meanwhile,Ansah has visited disaster victims at Chamasowa Village, T/A Boyidi in Thyolo District
