Minister of Foreign Affairs says Malawi will take advantage of African Union-European Union (AU-EU) Summit to discuss industrial development and digital industrialization with development partners
Speaking on the sidelines of the Summit in Luanda, Angola, Dr. George Chaponda, says AU-EU Summit is crucial for Malawi to achieve its development agenda.
Chaponda described EU as one of Malawi’s strongest partners, assisting the country in terms of grants, loans, technical assistance, trade facilitation, and energy.
“Access to the sea is critical for development of the country; hence, he will bring up the issue of Nacala Corridor, which can facilitate transportation of fuel into the country, ensuring a steady supply,” says Chaponda
He said the development of a port on Nacala Corridor will boost trade and development in terms of access to the market for our products and also bring vital supplies such as fuel
President of Angola, João Lourenço and President of European Council, António Costa, co-chair the summit which begins today
This year’s summit marks 25 years of EU-AU partnership.
