US Department of State official Resigns Over Washington’s Military Aid to Israel
A US Department of State official has resigned over Washington’s decision to boost military aid to Israel, saying US-supported Gaza war would lead to more suffering for civilians.
Josh Paul, a director in the State Department’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs said the administration of President Joe Biden was repeating the same mistakes Washington has been making for decades.
Paul said the response Israel is taking with the American support will only lead to more and deeper suffering of civilians
He declined to be a part of the repeated mistakes they have made the past decades adding that Biden administration’s “blind support for one side” was leading to policy decisions that were destructive, unjust and contradictory to the very values they publicly espouse”.
Paul who was involved in arms transfers to US allies for more than 11 years said he felt the harm he might do could be outweighed by the good he could do
He said was leaving his post because he believes that in their current course with regards to the continued expanded and expedited – provision of lethal arms to Israel he has reached the end of that bargain.
