Take Care of the Masjid – Sultan Chowe
Muslims from Village Headman Ntasi in Senior Chief Mponda in Mangochi have been advised to take the full responsibility of looking after the newly constructed masjid in the area.
The call was made during the official opening and handing over of a newly masjid constructed in the village.
Speaking during the handover ceremony Senior Chief Sultan Chowe said construction of the masjid in the area should be taken as a turning point for the Muslims and make use of the facility.
Sultan Chowe who spoke on behalf of Senior Chief Mponda said thenew masjid will ease some of the problems Muslims were facing as they were walking long distance for prayers.
Sultan Chowe therefore appealed to the community to take care of the masjid as it is now their responsibility to maintain it.
Chowe however advised parents to encourage their children to go to Madrassa as well as school and avoid engaging them into early marriages.
In his remarks Sheikh Muhammad Tolatola who provided financial support for the project said he thought it necessary to complement a great effort of the fore parents who established the masjid by coming up with a better structure.
According to Tolatola, the initial idea was to build the masjid and a center for Dawa to host Islamic activities.
Tolatola however urged the Muslim community to remain tolerant whenever they disagree on certain issues for the sake unity and development.
Speaking earlier, Village Headman Ntasi thanked the donor for constructing the masjid in his area saying Muslims will now have no excuse in praying five times a day.
Ntasi however assured the donor that Muslims are going to take full responsibility of looking after the masjid.
