Supreme Court gives Go Ahead to Government on SA-LL Water Project

Social Development commentator, Gorge Phiri has faulted government for not being serious with Salima-Lilongwe water project

The remarks have been made following the removal of injunction by Supreme Court of appeal that was obtained by Forum for National Development (FND) to restrain government from borrowing money from commercial banks to fund the project

In an interview with radio Islam, Phiri says the project has been out of consideration for a long time and the government is now pushing for its implementation because of pressure from the World Bank

However, FND Executive Director, Fryson Chozi, refused to comment on the matter saying the judgment is still under their lawyers’ scrutiny

Salima-Lilongwe water project seeks to pump water from Lake Malawi in Salima district to Lilongwe
