Strong winds destroy Nainunje health center, School, Masjid

Strong winds have destroyed Nainunje health center, primary school and a masjid in the area of senior chief Kapoloma in Machinga district.

Confirming the development with Radio Islam, councilor for Mpiri ward Issac Ndege said preliminary assessment indicates almost 53 households have been affected with effects of the strong winds accompanied by heavy rains  in the afternoon of Friday

Councilor Ndege has meanwhile called for immediate assistance from organizations and well-wishers to reach out to the affected families and workers at Nainunje health center whose houses have also been blown away by the winds.

He said so far the assessment to determine the extent of the damages is underway as area civil protection committee and the councilor are on the ground.
