State president asks PAC to continue mediation talks between Muslims & Christians
President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has asked Public Affairs Committee PAC to continue mediating dialogue between Muslims and Christians
The president was speaking at Sanjika palace in Blantyre during his meeting with the leadership of the group where they were presenting a report on the bill board saga.
The president is confident that the quas religious group will also deal with hijab issue in schools amicably.
The president’s remarks come at a time when some schools have been closed due to misunderstanding on wearing of hijab in government aided schools.
Speaking with Radio Islam after the meeting, Public Affairs Committee spokesperson, Bishop Gilford Matonga said “the meeting has been fruitful as the president has made it clear that he will ensure that the issue is amicably resolved.”
Matonga said they will not respond to other comments from other sectors on hijab issue as a committee was already instituted to look into the issue.
