Special needs teachers SNE in the country have threatened to withdraw their services on 23rd March if government does not promote them.
In a statement signed by 26 special needs teachers, they have been in touch with ministry of education, local government, parliament and other relevant stake holders since 2017 but yielded no tangible results.
The grouping wondered why government continues to fund trainings of special needs teachers when is it failing to put in place a policy for smooth implementation of the work.
In an interview with Radio Islam Macferson Chalema chairperson of the group said “special needs education is not acknowledged as witnessed by the failure to establish SNE at all levels of education despite having the deputy director of SNE and chief education officer.”
Years ago government promoted some special needs teachers after they forced it to promote them
