Speaker of parliament has urged newly Constituted Parliamentary Committees to deliver needs of Malawians.
Catherine Gotani Hara has said this when opening a five day Orientation workshop for the committees in Lilongwe.
Hara asked Members of Parliament to work together despite belonging to different parties for the benefit of the nation.
“I ask government and development partners to provide necessary resources for the legislators to be meeting frequently because they have a lot of issues to tackle,” Hara requested
In her remarks, UN Representative to Malawi Maria Torres called uponparliamentarians to consider upholding rights of people.
Torres said “UN will look into the matter of providing resources to parliament so that the law makers do more meetings and fulfill their duties. ”
Commenting, chairperson of Parliamentary committee on agriculture Sameer Suleman said they will effectively perform their duties regardless of political differences.
