SADC Observer mission says will ensure free fare and credible elections
Southern African Development Community (SADC) Observer mission to Malawi says they will ensure that there is free fare and credible elections in Malawi.
The assurance is coming when there is a strong rumour going around with fingers appointing at the state to rig the elections.
Speaking during the observer’s Mission launch, SADC Executive Secretary, Dr Stegomena Lawrence Tax, said free and fair polls is back born of democracy.
Speaking on behalf of SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba, Namibian Foreign Affairs Minister Netumbo Nandindaitwah corroborated with Dr Tax saying the mission will deploy teams in all the three regions to ensure free fare and eligible elections.
Launching ceremony of the SADC Electoral Observation Mission is the beginning of the official engagement of the foreign mission to observe the electoral process in the country.
The mission is here in Malawi to observe the elections in accordance with SADC Protocol on Politics, Defence and Security Cooporation which requires Member states to cooperate on the political processes for the purpose of promoting common political and democratic value.
The observer team will be in the country till the voting period.
