Religious Organisations to demonstrate against homosexuality
Religious mother bodies have written Lilongwe district council of the planned peaceful march in defense of marriage, family and human sexuality
They include Muslim association of Malawi, Episcopal Conference of Malawi, Qadria Muslim Association of Malawi, Malawi Council of Churches and Evangelical Association of Malawi
In a notice to the district commissioner secretary general of episcopal conference of Malawi Reverend Alfred Chaima says the intended march is in line with right to hold public demonstrations as enshrined under constitution of Malawi
Chaima says the march will take place on Thursday 13th July to parliament where they shall deliver their petition
He has thanked the council’s support and commitment to uphold the right to peaceful demonstrations as provided in constitution, police act and international conventions ratified by Malawi
Meanwhile, Muslim Association of Malawi has asked Muslims in the country to stand together with those that are fighting against same sex marriages.
This has been said a day to the planned demonstrations by different religious mother bodies to take place in Lilongwe tomorrow.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Islam, MAM publicity Secretary, Sheikh Dinala Chabulika, says it is against the teaching of Islam.
Sheikh Chabulika, has since pleaded with political and traditional leaders, the elderly and all members of the society to come together and rise against the legalization on same sex marriages.
