Roads Authority RA has announced the temporary closure of the turn to youth drive on the Dr Saulosi Chilima Highway.
According to the statement signed by the chief executive officer Engineer Ammiel Champiti, the temporary closure has been implemented to allow for the installation of appropriate traffic control measures specifically traffic road signal lights to enhance road safety at the affected location.
“The closure has been necessitated by the occurrence of recent fatal road traffic crashes at the location,” reads the statement
Motorists are therefore advised to continue using the straight legs at the Dr Saulosi Chilima Highway as well as other existing alternative routes within the road network.
The statement further says the roads authority is currently assessing several engineering options to address the identified safety concerns.
