President meets religious groups over covid-19
President Chakwera has asked faith community to continue engaging their followers to abide by covid-19 preventive measures.
The president was speaking during a meeting with Public Affairs Committee, Malawi Interfaith Aids Association and Youth Wave on covid 19 related issues.
In his remarks Dr Chakwera said there are many misconceptions and misinformation regarding covid 19 vaccine which is affecting people’s uptake of the vaccine.
“Government alone cannot win the fight hence calling upon religious leaders to go an extra mile in ensuring that people adhere to all preventive measures so that the country does not go into a third wave,” Chakwera
In his remarks Public Affairs committee spokesperson, Bishop Gilford Matonga said it is encouraging that government has provided a safe place for organizations to help in the fight against the pandemic.
He said though various interventions they have managed to teach the masses the importance of adhering to covid-19 preventive measures.
Meanwhile, the quos religious group has distributed face marks to people as a way of keeping the public safe from the pandemic.
