Political Parties Condemn Missing of Voter Registration Kit

Political parties that are not in parliament have cast doubt on the fairness of 2019 tripartite elections following the missed but found voter registration kit.

Leaders of the parties have made the remarks during a joint press conference in Blantyre.

In his opening remarks chair of the meeting Dr Cassim Chilumpha said the elections will not be credible if the issue is not resolved as soon as possible.

Chilumpha said “political parties have lost trust in the integrity of the commission.”

Reading the joint statement, president of People’s Progressive Movement PPM said the lost but found equipment makes the whole voter registration process doubtful.

All the political parties present at the joint press conference have agreed that chairperson of MEC Justice Dr Jane Ansah should step down.

“If she does not resign we will take legal action,” emphasised the leaders.

The political parties that are not in parliament said an independent body should investigate the issue.
