Police to force-open containers confiscated in refugees relocation
Malawi police service MPS in conjunction with ministry of homeland security will from 28th August open and search 125 containers that its officers confiscated during the relocation of refugees to Dzaleka Camp
This follows a court order pronounced on 12th July which gives direction on how the containers should be deposed off
According to public relations officer for MPS senior superintendent Peter Kalaya the exercise will be supervised by independent and competent court of law
Kalaya further says the opening and searching of the containers will be witnessed by independent stakeholders appointed by the court
The owners of the containers are suspected to commit various crimes such as possession of firearms, foreign currencies and machines for printing fake currencies, illegal purchase of minerals, agricultural produce and scrap metals among others.
