Police, Stakeholders launch Campaign against Violence on Women in Elections
Malawi Police Service and its stakeholders have launched campaign against Violence on Women in Elections VAWE Campaign.
The launch at Likuni Boys Secondary School in Lilongwe was led by Inspector General Merlyne Nachulu Yolamu, UN Women, Embassy of Ireland, business leaders, school children, and community members
They kicked off the launch with a powerful route march from Chinsapo 2 Market to Likuni Boys Secondary School Ground.
The launch of VAWE Campaign takes place as Malawi is preparing for 16th September 2025 general elections where eligible voters will choose president, members of parliament and ward councilors of their choice
In her speech Yolamu has asked Malawians to report any form of abuse which women face during this year’s elections.
