PAC engages Tourism Ministry on prices revision
Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has engaged Ministry of Tourism to consider revising prices of tourism services to promote their demand among local people.
Speaking during the meeting at parliament Vice Chairperson, Nedson Poya said prices of services in most tourism centers are so high that local people are unable to afford.
Poya further said the current pricing of tourism services also drives the foreign tourists away, a situation that denies the country’s chance to secure forex.
Director of Administration in Ministry of Tourism, Esther Nyirenda said the Ministry is still in the process of implementing marketing strategy which will enable it to amicably tackle current issues and boost demand for tourism services to both local and foreign people.
Meanwhile, the Ministry is looking forward to raise at least one billion Kwacha to facilitate enforcement of the strategy to owners of tourism centres
