Over 100 Patients Receive Surgical Treatment by PAC Doctors, IHAM

Over 100 patients suffering from different disease who needed surgery have been assisted by doctors from Physicians Across Continents in collaboration with Islamic Health Association of Malawi.

Speaking to Radio Islam, lead doctor professor Jamal Ghoshen says his Organisation thought of conducting the surgical camp in Malawi after noticing the long list of patients and the time they wait before being assisted in referral hospitals.

He says they are happy to see that all patients who availed themselves at John Chilembwe district hospital in Phalombe have been helped since Saturday

Professor Ghoshen says they also share knowledge and experience with doctors as well as clinicians in Malawi to continue assist patients after the camps.

In his remarks, Islamic Health Association of Malawi, executive director, Hajj Dyton, says they targeted 120 patients who have been on the waiting list for some time and expressed optimism that they will reach out to even more people before the closure of their one week camp on Thursday.

He expressed contentment with the turnout of patients from neighbouring districts of Chiradzulu, Mulanje, Zomba and Thyolo at Phalombe district Hospital for the camp.

One of the patients that have been treated Thokozani Mercy Molande, has hailed the two organisations for their gesture as she has been suffering for the past ten years.

This is the second camp that IHAM has conducted this year after a Fistula camp in September at the same hospital.
