Observers condemn Sunbird Hotels for forcing its employees to get Covid vaccine
Observers have condemned Sunbird Hotels and Resorts for a directive to have its entire staff members vaccinated for Covid 19 by Monday, May 24, 2021.
A memo signed by chief human capital and development officer says the vaccination will ensure protection of staff, guests and other clients.
“Any person who is not vaccinated should not report for duties after May 24th 2021,” reads the memo
But reacting to the development lawyer Osman Kennedy says forcing people to get medical assistance is against Malawi’s laws.
Minister of health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda emphasised that getting covid-1 vaccine is not compulsory
Government had declared that covid-19 vaccine is voluntary and over 300000 Malawians were vaccine since 15 March when the campaign was launched by president Dr Lazarus Chakwera
Over 16 000 astrazeneca vaccine which Malawi received from African union expired and Ministry of health told the nation that will be destroyed
This is contrary to a directive by world health organisation not to destroy it.
