Malawi Prison Services (MPS) has dismissed reports alleging that scores of hardcore prisoners have escaped from Zomba Maximum Prison.
The reports come after heavy rainstorm damaged two roofs of the prison living 67 inmates housed in the cells into despair.
Reacting to the reports, MPS Public Relations Officer, Steve Meke, confirmed of the accident but was quick to indicate that no serious injuries recorded.
Meke however commended the inmates for showing elements of reformation during the accident which indicates that they are ready to re-integrate with their respective communities.
