Mzuzu Court convicts 23 Ethiopians for illegal entry

Senior Resident Magistrate Court in Mzuzu has convicted 23 Ethiopians for entering the country illegally.

The convicted immigrants were arrested on 16^th November around Kaswiti area in Choma, in the city of Mzuzu.

From the 23 irregular immigrants, 16 are adults while 7 are minors.

He says in in 2022 the department registered 674 cases, in 2023 it recorded 603 while since January 2024 they have 234 arrests

Chitambuli says so far they have deported 320 immigrants this year for contravening immigration laws like illegal entry, overstay, contravening permit conditions.
