Mwanza District Council Goes Digital

Ministry of Information and Digitalization has handed over computer laboratory to Mwanza district council.

The laboratory has been rehabilitated by the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) to the tune of 155.8 million kwacha.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, the minister responsible Moses Kumkuyu, said government is striving its effort of turning Malawi into a digitally driven nation.

Kumkuyu said the establishment of computer laboratory, Mwanza District Council will now be able to manage the data base of all activities in the district.

On his remarks, Mwanza district council Chairperson, Emmanuel Kapawe, said the facility is going to enhance the service delivery of the council.

Member of Parliament for Mwanza Central constituency, Nicolas Dausi, commended government for connecting Mwanza to the digital world.

Dausi further the service delivery of the council will now be computerized as it has also embarked on e-ticketing.

According to MACRA, the ceremony was held as part of the commemorations of World Postal Day under the theme, ‘150 Years of Enabling Communication and Empowering Peoples Across Nations.’
