President Peter Mutharika has challenged the new deputy ministers to serve Malawians with utmost integrity, diligence, humility and passion, for the betterment of the country.
Speaking during the swearing in ceremony at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe, President Mutharika said the deputy Ministers have been selected on merit and no appeasement, therefore he has asked them to make sure they are assisting the government to deliver its national development agenda.
Mutharika has also emphasized that their appointment, should bring in new ideas that would bring solutions to challenges the country is currently facing including climate change.
“I have appointed you because I trust in your capabilities; your passion and commitment to serve the people prepare you well for this responsibility. I expect you to help the government achieve its development Agenda”.
The president has therefore asked the newly sworn in deputy ministers to them to observe the rule of law and avoid engaging in corruption as they will be discharging their duties.
“The oath binds you to uphold and protect the interest of the national constitution above your personal interests”, he added
On 5 January, 2026, President Peter Mutharika reshuffled the cabinet where he brought in four new deputy ministers of Natural Resources, Health and sanitation, Industrialization, trade and tourism as well as Agriculture, irrigation and water development.
