Muslims call government to ensure Muslim learners’ right to dress according to Islam respected
As Malawians are celebrating Human Rights day today, Muslims have called on government to ensure that Muslim learners’ rights to dress according to their religion is respected and upheld.
Speaking to radio Islam, one of the renowned ulamahs Dr Imran Sharif, said it is disheartening to note that Muslim children are being denied their right to education simply for practicing their religion.
Dr Sharif added that “the right to education is universal hence the need for government to ensure that rights of all people are being respected.”
This year’s Human Rights Day is being commemorated under the theme: Recover Better-stand up for Human rights.
