Muslim Youth United collects K30 million for covid fight
As the second phase of soliciting resources for the fight against corona virus pandemic by Muslim Youth United (MYU) is in progress the organization says has managed to collect equipment and cash amounting to 30 million kwacha within three days.
Speaking to Radio Islam, one of the co-founders, Dr Hussein Twabi, said MYU is pleased to note that Malawians have overwhelmingly welcomed the project.
Dr Twabi said they targeted 20 million kwacha in the second phase but is pleasing that within three days of the phase they have reached a surplus of 10 million kwacha.
He said meanwhile they are engaging hospital authorities to find out the most needed equipment which they expect to be donated next week.
He however commended all companies and individuals for coming forward and support the initiative.
MYU is a grouping of young Muslims from various professions which is carrying out a number of charitable activities including the fight against the spread of covid 19 pandemic.
