Multi-choice, COSOMA drills partners on piracy

Multichoice has emphasized that education is more important especially for young children in order to deal with piracy.

This has been said in Blantyre, during a training of partners against piracy, which included the media and police officers held in partnership with Multi choice Africa.

Multichoice Africa senior piracy manager Tobias Maja said teaching children from primary will help them to understand the need to deal with piracy.

He added that stealing creativity of other people is destroying the economy.

“Piracy is a threat to sustainability of the creative industry therefore harsh punishment will help to deal with the malpractice,” Maja

The Multi-choice Africa senior manager on piracy called for coordination among industry bodies so that the battle against piracy is won.

According to Maja Malawi is not on top ten of African countries in as far as piracy is concerned

In her speech executive director of Copyright Society of Malawi COSOMA Dora Makwinja said piracy has become out of control because of digital technology.

Makwinja said there is need to have international legal instrument to protect creativity of people.

She said COSOMA in partnership with Multi-choice will hold a series of such workshops in various parts of the country.
