Ministry of Agriculture to present AIP report to parliament next week
Principal Secretary in the ministry of Agriculture Dixie Kampani has told Public Account Committee of parliament members that they will present the affordable Inputs Program report on Tuesday next week
Speaking at Parliament building in Lilongwe Kampani said his ministry is planning to revise transportation rates as the country is experiencing challenges of transporting AIP products
He said currently the ministry has recruited 250 interns that will help to increase distribution of AIP in the country
“So far the ministry has distributed 77 thousand metric tons out of 240 thousand metric tons of fertilizer,” Kampani
In his remarks Public Accounts Committee Chairperson Mark Bottoman said they want comprehensive report on management of AIP especially on logistics
Bottoman said the committee is not satisfied with performance of the Program as many areas are yet to receive the fertilizer
