Ministry launches National Community Development Policy
Ministry of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare has launched National Community Development Policy (NCDP) and Community Development Month (CDM) to combat challenges people face in developing their communities.
Speaking during the launch at Rukulu Primary School in Traditional Authority Khosolo Mzimba district Minister responsible, Jean Sendeza said involving communities to make decisions is crucial for enhancing quality of education, healthcare and other sectors in the country.
Sendeza said implementation of NCDP and CDM will ensure that communities benefit from improved educational standards, infrastructure such as roads, sanitation facilities and adequate housing for teachers across the nation.
He therefore called on traditional leaders, politicians, and councilors to collaborate effectively in advancing development of communities and families throughout malawi
Traditional Authority Inkosi Khosolo of Mzimba district pointed out various challenges, including deficient road networks, inadequate teacher housing, premature deaths and bridges.
He expressed confidence that NCDP and CDM initiatives will equip chiefs with necessary tools to foster development at community level.
In his remarks, M’mbelwa District Council Chairperson, Morgan Tembo affirmed the council’s commitment to support Khosolo’s development projects.
