MHRC holds mobile legal clinics

Malawi Human Rights Committee MHRC has called upon communities in Chimbende and Malombe areas in Mangochi district to report to reliable authorities and organisations if their rights have been infringed.

Chancy Kalowekesya the civil political rights officer at MHRC made the call during mobile legal clinics aimed at informing the communities of its duties.

“MHRC visited Chimbende because in 2015 30 people were heavily beaten up by police and rocked in custody without knowing their offence and in Malombe because in 2017 the officer-in-charge defiled a pupil,” explained Kalowekesya.

Therefore, he said the two cases will be investigated for justice to prevail.
