MHRC calls Mangochi women to report violence and injustice

Malawi Human Rights Commission MHRC through Tithetse Nkhanza project has encouraged women and girls to speak against violence and injustice they are facing

Speaking at Mpiripiri primary school in the area of Traditional Authority in Makanjira, Mangochi judge of High Court Fiona Mwale said the main objective of the program is to reduce prevalence of violence women and girls as well as improve justice delivery.

Mwale said “MHRC will ensure that justice services and local institutions are accessible to women and children.”

She urged the communities in Mangochi to promote and protect human rights particularly of access to justice of female survivors and victims of violence

In her remarks commissioner of MHRC who is also chairperson of Genders Mult-group Stella Twea said expressed gratitude towards the openness and active participation of the community

Meanwhile, senior chief Makanjira has said “the initiative will help in reducing defilement cases as women and girls will be reporting them.”

Chief Makanjira assured the commissioners that will ensure justice is delivered regardless of personal status

Tithetse Nkhanza program is funded by DFID, and implemented by Coffey International Development, social development direct and plan international
