MERA urges operators to sell petroleum products at recommended prices
Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority MERA has requested Malawians to report any licensed sites that do not sell fuel for the authority to take an appropriate action as sanctioned by the Energy Regulation ACT of 2004.
Through its press statement MERA has assured Malawians that the country continues to enjoy uninterrupted fuel supplies. The statement further says internal and external stockholding of petroleum products are adequate.
Signed by the Authority’s Chief Executive Officer Raphael Kamoto, the document expresses that there are adequate financing mechanisms for Malawi’s fuel needs.
Kamoto has therefore advised Malawians to ignore all malicious and unfounded speculative reports that Malawi does not have enough fuel supplies.
MERA has also urged all operators to sell petroleum products at prices not exceeding the recommended maximum pump prices which are K839 for Petrol, K853 for Diesel and Paraffin at K719.
