Malawi Health Equity Network MEHN has recommended government to increase health budget to 60 billion kwacha for effective delivery of services
Speaking during the 2023 to 2024 budget interface meeting with members of parliament in Lilongwe MEHN Board Chairperson Carolyn Kassam appealed to Ministry of health to speed up implementation of various infrastructure projects to address health related gaps
Kassam called on civil society organizations to intensively advocate for additional health budget
She urged parliamentary committees to hold accountable Ministries, departments and agencies to ensure usage of budgetary allocations
In her remarks chairperson of parliamentary committee on budget and finance Gladys Ganda said the committee will lobby for equitable resource provision to health sector including an upward adjustment of not less than 60 billion kwacha budget
