MEC trains poll workers
As only few days remain for local government by-elections to be conducted, Malawi Electoral Commission MEC is today Friday, August 21, 2015 training poll workers in all wards where the polls will take place.
MEC’s public relations officer Sangwani Mwafulirwa in an interview with radio Islam said all is set for the by-elections.
He said the commission is expected to send the electoral material to all wards by the end of Sunday.
Mwafulirwa has commended the way all aspiring candidates have behaved during the campaign period which is expected to be closed on the 23rd of this month.
“Let me remind Malawians that local government by-elections will be conducted on Tuesday and MEC is very ready to hold free, credible and fair polls. I ask all eligible voters to cast there ballots in order to choose people who will develop their areas,” said Mwafulirwa.
Local government by-elections will take place in five wards of Chibanja in Mzuzu, Msikisi in Mangochi, Lunchenza, Khwawa in Karonga and Zomba central.
