MCP, UDF win by-elections

Malawi Electoral Commission MEC has announced that MCP and UDF candidates have won local government by-elections which were held in three wards on 23^rd August

Announcing the results at Katoto secondary school in Mzuzu, MEC chairperson Justice Dr Chifundo Kachale said the elections were free, fair and credible.

Kachale expressed concern that only 7 out of 15 registered political parties fielded candidates and no female candidate as well as person with disabilities contested

He said one person was arrested in Karonga for offering handouts
